ARC ladies at Castles half marathon

Trish Kay, Angela Barratt and Julie Dodd at the Castle half marathon.

Castle Half Marathon

Three ladies from the club travelled up to Northumberland to take part in the Castles Half Marathon. The route started and finished at Bamburgh Castle, the rest of the course being entirely on country lanes. The weather was good for running.

Trish Kay was going well until about 10 miles when her calves and foot started to play up and she was in quite a lot of pain, but Trish, being the person she is, kept going and finished 93rd in the excellent time of 1:51:16 and was also 2nd F/50.

Angela Barret was next to cross the line, 126th in 1:57:38 and Julie Hodds in her first outing for the club was 142nd in an impressive 2:00:38.

Acklam Cross Country

On the same day several members of the club were involved in the NYSD cross-country meeting at Acklam Grange School.

The ladies would have had a full team in their race, which was over 3.5 miles, but Michelle Scott twisted her knee on the first climb and wisely dropped out.

Michelle Zamir was first home for the club, 34th in a field of 97 in 26:29, followed by Michelle Jane, 48th in 28:03 and Susan Clark, 93rd in 36:40.

In the men’s O/65 race which was incorporated in the ladies race, Ray Todd was the only finisher in the O/75 category in 38:22.

In the men’s senior race, which was over 10K, Mark Wade was first home for the club, 29th out of 161 runners in 40:48, followed by Dez Fielden, 38th in 41:41 and Chris Griffiths 127th in 52:17. Cross-country specialist Colin Gibson was next to cross the line, 141st in 56:25, followed by Rob Nicholson, 149th in 57:47 and Dave Thompson, 160th in 65:14.

Aycliffe Running Club men finished 10th in the team race.

Sedgefield Park Run

In the Sedgefield Parkrun, Mark Wade was first with a new PB of 18:21. New PBs also went to Denise Evans, 29:23 and Julie Nisbet, 33:31.
