ARC Weekly Race Report – Week 15 – 17th April 2024

It was a quiet week for the senior members of the club with no races this week.  However, the Junior Section took a team along to take part in the 7th Kieran Maxwell Memorial Open at ’Middlesbrough Sports Village.  The event also raised a brilliant £3,022.84 for the Kieran Maxwell Fund.  The club was represented in a number of categories in both track and field.

In the under 13 boy’s long jump, Luke Thompson managed a jump of 2.91 metres.  Trinity Donoghue took part in the under 13 girls 800 meters, finishing second in her heat in a time of 2:41:31, setting a new club record in the process.  In the boys under 17, 800 metres, Henry Mosher (2:13:72 knocked 11 seconds off his previous PB, setting a new club record) and Max Todd (2:30:74 in a new PB) represented the club. 

Moving down in age category, Joe Dickinson (13:58) represented the club in the boys under 11, 75 metres event along with William Allison (11:94 winning his heat in a new PB) and Joseph Ashmore (12:71).  In the under 13 girls 100 metres race, Trinity Donoghue (14:60 in a new PB) finished third in her heat. 

In the under 11’s boys 600 metres, William Allison (2:03:28 in a new PB), Joe Dickinson (2:17:77) and Joseph Ashmore (2:19:32) all represented the club.  In the under 13’s girl’s 200 metres, Trinity Donoghue (30:09), continued her excellent day with second place in her heat.  In the under 13 boy’s event, Luke Thompson (35:80)  represented the club.  Luke Walker (27:86) represented the club in the boys under 15 event. 

On Saturday, 31 members started their weekend with a parkrun, taking in the Albert, Town Moor, Windy Nook, Sedgefield, Riverside, Stewart Park,  Darlington South Park, South Shields, Hackworth, Hartlepool, Keswick, Druridge Bay and Monsal Trail, events.

At Albert, Angela Sutheran (22:40 and a new PB for the course), Rob Nicholson (29:01 in a new PB for the course) and Jayne Rudd (33:10) all represented the club.  At Town Moor, David Thompson (31:39) completed the event.  At Windy Nook, Jean-Pierre Hupin (31:04) , Em Flynn (34:25) and Carley Cooper (36:31) all completed the course.  This was the first time Jean-Pierre had took part in the event and was also the final event in the North East he had left to compete, earning him the North East Regionnaire status, a fantastic achievement.

At Sedgefield John Burnside (26:45), Richard Tonge (31:11) and Kathleen Tonge (34:00) all completed the event.  This was John Burnside’s 50th time in completing the event at Sedgefield.  At Riverside, Lou Mann (30:57) completed the course for the first time. At Stewart Park, David Stothard (26:51 in a new course PB ) and Ian Stothard (37:51) both completed the course.  At Darlington South Park Shelly McCormack (27:47) was the sole representative for the club.

At South Shields, Steve Williams (27:50) and Viv Williams (31:30) both completed the course for the first time.  At Hackworth, Richard Trowles (finishing second in a new course PB of 18:30), Daniel Tatham (23:39), Anthony Dickinson (24:44), Richard Holland (25:26), Shaun Dodd (25:28), Bernadette Cooper (25:39), Salv McDonnell (27:08), Laura Grainger (27:32) and Cath McDonnell (27:35) all represented the club.   

At Hartlepool, Andrew Tweddle (21:33) completed the course for the first time, setting a parkrun person best in the process.  At Keswick, John Surtees (18:33)  represented the club.  At Druridge Bay, Sue Clark (38:26) completed the event.  At Monsal Trail, Linda McNamee (46:32) completed the course for the first time.
