ARC Runners at Auckland Castle

The Auckland Castle 5 mile Trail Race took place on the 30th August. This is a new event in the race calendar. Starting at the Auckland Castle iconic Robinson Clock Tower and Gatehouse, the race took the runners past the walled garden and into the historic 200 acre Deer Park. The event was favoured with a fine sunny day.

Richard Campbell was first home for the club, 20th in 38:07, followed by John Burnside, 26th in 39:23 and Cyd Upton, 40th in 41:59. Next to cross the line was Michelle Zamir, 41st in 42:16, followed by Susan Milburn, 62nd in 45:26 and Vivianne Pow, 89th in 49:00. Judith Porter was the next finisher, 123rd in 53:42 followed by Peter Milburn, 124th in 53:11.

The Autumn Coast 5K which took place the following Wednesday is in complete contrast to the above race, completely flat and on hard surfaces. This resulted in some fast times and PBs for some.

Newcomer Richy Wade, continued his good form and produced the brilliant time of 17:07 PB, finishing in 7th position and just two places behind Dez Fielden finished in 17:26. Dave Blewitt was next to cross the line, 66th in 20:45, followed by John Burnside, 79th in 21:16. Sandra Collins led the ladies home, 104th in 22:49, followed by Kelly Smith, 119th in 23:43 and Yvonne Williams, 161st in 29:43 PB.

The Middlesbrough Tees Pride 10K races have of late been blessed with good weather and this year was no exception, with glorious sunshine all day. However, the heat didn’t deter the club from achieving some good performances and a few even got PBs.

First home for the club was Richard Campbell, 319th in 44:13. Steve Smith was given the same time but for him it was a PB, 322nd. Paul Stretton also got a PB, 345th in 44:44. Next to cross the line was Dave Blewitt, 366th in 45:07, followed by Trish Kay, 694th in 49:51 and Clare Rose, 701st in 50:07 PB. Gary Minns was next finisher, 845th in 50:34, followed by Angela Barrett, who is recovering from a calf injury, 873rd in 53:08 and Penny Johnson, 884th in 52:39. Triathlete Diane Savage was next to cross the line, 1306th in 58:48 followed by Susan Clark, 1431st in a PB time of 60:44.

On the same day six of our members took part in the Coxhoe 10K Trail Race. It was a hot and sunny day and the undulating course made it a testing race. In this integral event the men’s and women’s results were given separately.

In the men’s race Dez Fielden was 1st O/40 and 5th overall followed by Mark Wade, 6th in 39:52 and Richard Harvey, 64th in 59:51 and 3rd O/70.
